Hi readers! Noel here. The election season here in the Philippines is winding down as I write this, and if you have been following Philippine politics, it’s been a VERY intense season. So, what better time to post this very chill but very awesome wedding of Maarten and Blanche, right? XD
Last year, I was given the opportunity to cover their intimate wedding in Boracay which was held in The Lind, where Blanche works. It was actually nerve-wracking not just on my part, but on them as well, because for some reason, strong and heavy rains were falling the week of the wedding. Actually, not just the week of the wedding, but many times of December last 2015. Imagine you were in a situation where you had to plan an out of town wedding but you couldn’t go to your wedding location because of rains and cancelled flights. You’d be stressed too, right? And if you know the Philippine history of flights, you’d know lately that there is a bunch of cancelled flights and delayed flights and… well, you get the picture. XD And yes, I was nervous too that my flight would be cancelled and I wouldn’t be able to take their photos.
But yeah, moving on, let’s get to the positive side of things! XD We all got there. Also, Maarten and his family and his best man all got there! Yay. :D Which is why I have a blog about this wedding right now, right? XD
Anyway, I love shooting intimate weddings. Why, you ask? Well, for one thing, you really have a closer look on the wedding preparations, and in this wedding, I really saw the family effort. Blanche’s mom worked on flowers, her sister Bernice (whose wedding I also shot :D) did her makeup… and you get to see the emotions really overflowing during the special moments of the wedding. And it’s fun! Because there was only a total of eleven people in the wedding party, it was like I was part of the party too. :D And of course, it helped that Blanche and Maarten were a very quirky couple, bursting out into spontaneous posing and fun stuff. They were a joy to shoot. They were very easy to direct, because they were pretty much game for everything I told them to do. Same goes for the rest of the wedding party. Special mention for Bernice’s daughter and Blanche’s niece Sadie, who was a real attention getter with all her jokes and definitely contributed to the joyful mood of the day, not to mention her many requests for photos, haha. :D
There were the usual wedding happenings, but what I really appreciated most of all was the time that we all retreated to the second floor of the Lind Hotel, near the pool, and just had wine, and appreciated the sun go down. And the dinner… man, that was good. And it was just filled with speeches from the members of the wedding party that all came from the heart.
Ahhh, it’s so hard to describe things when so many great things happened in a wedding. I will just let the photos speak.
Enjoy the photos. :)
Congratulations again Maarten and Blanche! Thank you for having me as your photographer, and letting me be part of the celebration as well. God bless! Can’t wait to see your baby! :D And thanks to the Tiongson and Pennings families as well! :D
